Objectives

  • Scale a 1 ton/day laboratory plant to a 5 ton/day pilot plant and convert the batch process to a cost-effective continuous process.
  • Development of a technology for hydrogen reduction of iron oxide from the pickling sludge of the steel industry and construction of a pilot plant for the two-stage process
  • Testing and optimization of the pilot plant to identify the optimal process parameters for the production of fine spherical iron powder
  • Testing and validation of the iron powder in a number of different processing methods for metal injection moulding and other applications
  • Evaluation of the economic and ecological advantages of the new process and of the fine spherical iron powder produced thereby
  • Development and implementation of a strategy for the replication, transfer and market introduction of the LIFE GreenPowder technology (process, plant engineering, FSIP powder)
